TRUSTED TRADER PROGRAMME

The Customs Amendment (Australian Trusted Trader Programme) Bill 2015 was passed by both Houses of Parliament on the 18th June 2015. The Bill amends the Customs Act 1901 to establish the Australian Trusted Trader Programme which will
1) introduce a differentiated trust-based regulatory framework at the border for those entities that meet or exceed international supply chain security and trade compliance standards; and
2) permit the Australian Border Force Act 2015 to make a consequential amendment
The ABF will officially launch the Trusted Trader Programme in Melbourne on the 8th July 2015 and announce the four partners chosen for the initial pilot export programme. We look forward with interest to see what inducements will be offered to importers to join the programme once the import protocols are established.
